Following the death of the Austrian pacifist Bertha von Suttner (1843–1914), her papers were inherited by Alfred Hermann Fried (1864–1921), with whom she had worked closely for many years in the international peace movement.
In 1931, the League of Nations Library acquired the archives of both individuals, the Fried–Suttner Papers, from the widow of Alfred Hermann Fried.
The Bertha von Suttner Papers include an extensive body of correspondence spanning the years 1870–1914, as well as her diaries (1897–1914). The collection also comprises literary manuscripts and newspaper articles reflecting her engagement with political developments and peace movements of the period.
